18 May (Sat): FREE Pulau Ubin Ramble with Nature Society (Singapore)

Join Nature Society (Singapore)'s Nature Ramblers to explore this beautiful island.

Pulau Ubin is an island located on the north-eastern coast of Singapore. Its name is derived from its original Malay name, Pulau Batu Jubin, which means “Island of Granite Stones”. Granite quarries provided the initial draw for early local settlement, and much of the island’s granite was used for Singapore’s early developments such as Horsburgh Lighthouse and the Singapore-Johore Causeway. Pulau Ubin’s five disused quarries still exist. The rock cliffs on Pulau Ubin are ideal for abseiling. Today, Pulau Ubin is a nature and leisure island with amenities for rustic and outdoor recreational activities.

Terrain: Causal trek. Participants should be medically fit and healthy. The trek is not suitable for children below 14 years old. Please bring 1.5 litres of water, poncho, walking stick/trekking pole, and proper walking or trekking shoes.

Time: 8am - 1.30pm.
Meeting Point: Changi Point Ferry Terminal.
Cost: $6 per person (for ferry ride, $3 per direction payable directly to the boatman.) 

No registration required, just turn up at the meeting point at the meet up time.
